On the 13th of August 2022, the Array Collective will be launched in Galway by the Galway Arts Centre as part of the Galway Pride Week celebrations.

Who are Array Collective?

Array Collective are the first artists from Northern Ireland to be awarded the prestigious Turner Prize for their work “The Druthaib’s Ball”, an immersive installation and an extensive body of art that is a manifestation of the collective’s labour and activism aimed at activating social changes in Northern Ireland.

Megs Morley (Director & Curator of Galway Arts Centre) said, “Along with this, we have developed a public programme of events working with local artists, academics, activists, musicians and performers that explore and activate the ideas and themes raised in Array’s work and we are very proud to open The Druthaib’s Ball, as part of this year’s Galway Pride who work tirelessly to celebrate the diversity of Galway’s LGBTQ+ community. We are also deeply grateful to work with our current Artists in Residence, the Rewind << Fastforward >> Record (RFR) initiative to exhibit the Irish Names Project, a quilt created in 1990 in honour and remembrance of those who died in Ireland from AIDS and HIV-related illnesses, including a patch dedicated to those effected in Galway”.
